BikeSafe R1

For those of you not aware, BikeSafe is a national initiative designed to offer members of the public a chance to discover the benefits of further training within the field of motorcycling. To " bridge the gap" , so to speak, between the DSA test and any advanced test available.

Suffolk Constabulary's BikeSafe is in its fifth year and over the years we have developed successful partnerships with Suffolk County Council and companies within the motorcycling community. Whilst we have enjoyed in excess of 90% occupancy on all workshops over the last four years, it is obvious that a relatively small number of candidates are sport bike riders.

To that end this year Orwell Motorcycles have provided a 2008 Yamaha R1 motorcycle, which we have marked up as a police machine. The aim is quite simply to promote BikeSafe to riders of sports bikes and demonstrate that advanced riding techniques are not solely for the touring enthusiast.
