 Martin Fuller is a tour operator with Austrian Motorcycle tours, he shares his views on biking with us in the following interview.
How long have you been riding bikes?
25 years (and still enjoying it)
How many miles do you travel per year?
Between 10,000 and 12,000
What kind of bikes do you ride ?
Aprilia RSV1000R and a Suzuki DRZ400.
What is your ideal bike?
A cross between a KTM Superduke and a BMW 1200GS
Do you ride as part of your job, to commute or simply for pleasure?
Being part of Austrian Motorcycle Tours my motorcycle is very much part of my job, however I am often told my work is more like a holiday.
Where do you usually ride?
Most of my riding is to and from Austrian using a mixture of different types of roads. When in Austrian it is predominately the roads around the mountains where the bike is used the most. However, I do have a few favourite roads in Suffolk that I enjoy on a Sunday morning ride out with my mates but it has to include a 'bacon butty' stop somewhere along the route
Do you take biking holidays?
I try not to as it feels to much like work, however I do take a annual ride over to the WW2 sites in France and Germany with few other bikers for a few days break.
What is the attraction of motorcycling for you?
Motorcycling is a great leveller of people. I have met bikers from all walks of life and the passion is always the same. Together with the challenge of reaching that 'perfect ride' I really struggle to find something that always brings a smile to my face.
What would improve the motorcycling experience for you?
It would be great if the culture toward motorcycles (and motoring in general) was similar to that in main land Europe.
Do you have any favourite biking experiences that you would like to share?
One of my highlights was off road riding with Simon Pavey in Wales. Simon has ridden the Dakar six times, trained Ewan and Charlie for The Long Way Road, and rode with Charlie in the Race to Dakar. Top bloke and has endless time to improve your riding skills off road.
